
Gareth Kwok is a talented and versatile play-by-play announcer with experience calling the NBA & WNBA, NBA G League, Minor League Baseball and NCAA Division I athletics. He is currently the TV play-by-play broadcaster for the Rip City Remix, the NBA G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Director of Broadcasting & Media Production for the defending Pioneer League champion Oakland Ballers.
A San Francisco Bay Area native, Gareth has filled in on broadcasts for the Portland Trail Blazers and Portland Fire and has called games for the NBA G League Winter Showcase, Arizona State athletics, and the Arizona Fall League.
In November 2023, Gareth was named the inaugural TV play-by-play voice of the Rip City Remix. He calls all 24 home games that are aired locally on KUNP and online at NBAGLeague.com. He also joins the Blazers Tip-Off Show throughout the season to update fans on the progression and development of the team’s younger players.
His broadcasting career in Minor League Baseball has included stops with the Chesapeake Baysox (Double-A, Baltimore Orioles), New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A, Toronto Blue Jays), and Frederick Keys (High-A, Baltimore Orioles).
Gareth is a May 2022 graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. While at ASU, Gareth was recognized by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) as a 2022 Second Team All-American in STAA’s Jim Nantz Award All-America Program. He was also awarded “Best Baseball/Softball Play-by-Play” twice by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) in 2021 and 2022. He was nominated as a finalist by the IBS for “Best Men’s/Women’s Basketball Play-by-Play” in 2021.
When he is not calling sports, Gareth enjoys golfing, hiking, playing pickleball, eating thin-crust pizza and Thai food, and spending time with family and friends.
